Language Settings
Click below to see step-by-step guides to adjusting the language settings in various applications and devices. Note: message from your school and the district office (these may include voicemails, emails, texts and mobile alerts) will be received/displayed in the language you select during the registration process.
PTS Website
- Go to any page on the PTS website (www.phoenix.k12.or.us)
- Click on the language box on the lower right corner of the screen
- Select desired language

- Go to google.com and sign in to your account
- Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner
- Select "Manage your Google Account"
- In the left menu, click "Personal info"
- Scroll to "General preferences for the web" and click "Language"
- Click the edit tool in the “Preferred Language” box
- Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu
- Click "Select" to save changes
Meta (Facebook)
- Log in to your Facebook account
- Click the down arrow in the top-right corner
- Select "Settings & Privacy", then "Settings"
- In the left menu, click "Language and Region"
- Next to "Account language", click button that indicates current language
- Choose your preferred language from the menu
- Click "Save Changes"
- Open the Instagram app on your device
- Go to your profile by tapping the profile icon in the bottom right corner
- Tap the three horizontal lines (hamburger menu) in the top right corner
- Select "Settings and privacy" from the menu
- Scroll down and tap on "Language" under the "Account" section
- Choose your preferred language from the list of available options
- Once you select a language, the app will automatically update to display content in the chosen language
Note: If you're using Instagram in a web browser, the process is slightly different:
- Go to instagram.com and log in
- Click on your profile picture in the top right corner
- Select "Settings"
- Click on "Language" in the left sidebar
- Choose your preferred language from the dropdown menu
- Click "Submit" to save your changes
Keep in mind that changing the language in the app or on the website will only affect your Instagram interface. It won't change the language of user-generated content like posts or comments.
Windows 11
- Click the Start button and open Settings
- Select "Time & Language"
- Click on "Language & region"
- Under "Preferred languages", click "Add a language"
- Choose your desired language and click "Next"
- Select any additional features you want to install and click "Install"
- Once installed, click on the language and select "Set as preferred"
- Restart your computer for changes to take full effect
iPhone
- Open the "Settings" app on your iPhone. It looks like a gray gear icon.
- Scroll down and tap on "General".
- In the General menu, tap on "Language & Region".
- At the top of the screen, tap on "iPhone Language".
- You'll see a list of available languages. Scroll through and tap on the language you want to use.
- A popup will appear asking if you want to change the language to your selection. Tap "Change to [selected language]".
- Your iPhone will take a moment to change the language. The screen may go black briefly.
- Once it's done, your iPhone will display text in the new language.
- You'll be asked to confirm the change. The confirmation button will be in the new language you selected. Tap it to finalize the change.
- If you want to add a secondary language, go back to "Language & Region" and tap "Add Language" to select additional languages.
Important notes:
- Changing the language will affect the entire system, including all built-in apps.
- Some third-party apps may not support all languages and might still display in English or their default language.
- If you accidentally choose a language you don't understand, you can always locate the Settings app by its gear icon and reverse the process using the same steps (the icons will be in the same position).
Android
- Open the "Settings" app on your Android device. It usually looks like a gear or cogwheel icon.
- Scroll down and tap on "System" or "General Management" (the exact name may vary depending on your Android version and device manufacturer).
- Tap on "Language & input" or "Language and keyboard".
- Select "Language" or "Languages".
- Tap "Add a language" if your desired language isn't already listed.
- Scroll through the list and select the language you want to use.
- If prompted, choose the region or dialect for the selected language.
- Your new language will be added to the list. Tap and hold the language you want to use as your primary language, then drag it to the top of the list.
- A confirmation dialog may appear. Tap "Set" or "OK" to confirm the change.
- Your device will switch to the new language. This may take a few seconds, and your device might restart.
Additional notes:
- The exact steps might vary slightly depending on your Android version and device manufacturer.
- Some apps may not support all languages and might still display in English or their default language.
- If you accidentally choose a language you don't understand, you can usually change it back by following the same steps (the icons will be in the same positions).
- In newer Android versions, you can also use the search function in Settings to quickly find "Language" settings.
