    Hello Pirate Families!

We’ve had a great start to the school year and are extremely proud of how we’ve been able to connect with students and families over the course of the last few months! From our registration event in August to our Open House event in September, and now jumping into Homecoming this week, it has been an absolute joy and a pleasure to meet you and connect with your students!

If you haven’t had the chance to give us some feedback, we are embarking on a journey of improving our Family Engagement efforts. As we begin that journey, we’ve reframed and re-established our definition of family engagement. Rather than simply inviting families onto our campus and sending emails as our communication, we’re really looking forward to partnering with parents in an effort to transform student learning. Our definition of Family Engagement is any way that a child’s adult caretaker at home, at school, and in the community, effectively supports learning and healthy development. In order to do our best in supporting that, we’d like to know more about your experience thus far. This survey will take 5-7 minutes to complete and we will use this information to examine our current efforts and better our partnership with you! Thank you for taking the time to give us your thoughts.

There are several opportunities to join in celebrating Homecoming Week. Mark your calendars for this Wednesday evening’s events– the Pirate Country Parade will chug downtown beginning at 5:30 PM. The best viewing spots are along Main Street where there will be lots of smiles, fun, and of course, candy! After the parade, join us for our “He-Man” Volleyball game and our “Powder Puff” Football event. Then, on Friday, while there is no school during the day, that will give you some time to get your boots ready!  We are looking forward to the Homecoming football game, halftime show, and after-game dance; students are wearing all things Western and it’ll be a great time.

Please join us for any/all celebrations this week- we’d love to have you on campus! I’d also like to encourage you to follow us on social media where we are celebrating and shouting out the wonderful work of students multiple times daily. Find us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok! In November, we will start looking at our School Improvement plan and are encouraging parents who are interested in being part of that dialogue, to reach out to me. We’d love to have you on our Site Council. If you are interested in that, please let me know by sending me an email and I will get you information on joining that team.

If you have any needs or questions, please feel free to reach out. We are here to help. Hope to see you this week,
