Local and regional news coverage focused on the Phoenix-Talent School District
Two new kids at Phoenix High School could be heard crying from down a long hallway on a recent afternoon.
Far from being stressed about homework or navigating a school schedule, the two "kids" — baby Boer goats born earlier this month — were hollering for their warm bottles of milk.
Over four years after the devastating 2020 wildfires, several Oregon school districts still need financial support as they rebuild. Two new house bills, 3165 and 3941, aim to provide both short-term and long-term aid to districts impacted by the blazes.
The pair of bills has been introduced in the Oregon legislature and would give more money to four school districts - PTS included - impacted by the 2020 wildfires

When fire raged through the community of Lahaina on Aug. 8, destroying more than 2,000 buildings and killing at least 97 people on the northwest coast of Maui, news reports of the devastation gave some Phoenix High School students a dreaded sense of déjà vu.

October 9, 2023: OSBA News: Community Care program goes to heart of students' needs
Girls on the Run is just one of the new initiatives launched as part of the Phoenix-Talent School District’s Community Care program. The mental-health focused program aims to help students do better in school by lowering the stress level for students and families. The program enlists “community care specialists” to help families overcome obstacles, everything from filling out a job application to finding glasses for a needy student.
