State changes policy

Outdoor masking now voluntary

The Oregon Health Authority announced on Tuesday that effective immediately, face coverings will be optional in outdoor settings where people from separate households gather. This is a revision to OAR 333-019-1025. A separate revision to OAR 333-019-1015 will remove the outdoor face-covering requirement for K-12 settings.

For Phoenix-Talent students, this means that starting the day they return to school following Thanksgiving break, Monday, Nov. 29, they will no longer be required to wear face coverings during outside activities.

The revision to the statewide indoor/outdoor face-covering rule does not change the requirement for mask use in indoor settings, which includes school buildings, busses and gyms during athletic events.

Daily health screening every morning before school is strongly encouraged to help limit the spread of COVID-19. Students who show COVID-19 symptoms and must miss school should visit Google Classroom to stay up to date in their course work.
